St. Edward's CYO attended the 2017 Salina Diocese CYO Convention in Salina April 8-9 to celebrate their Catholic faith with approximately over 300 high school Catholic youth throughout the Salina Diocese.
The CYO convention allows the youth to experience the love of God in a deeper way and empower them to share that love with the world. As part of the convention, St. Edward's CYO was awarded 3rd place for Outstanding CYO Unit of the Year in the Salina Diocese. The Turning Pointe Senior Steps Company competed at International Dance Challenge in Lawrence on March 11. The Senior Steps Company is an audition-based traveling and performing dance company within the Turning Pointe. The group consists of six members: Allyson Brunner and Grace Rieke, both of Belleville; and Cassidy Brown, Bethany Craig, Roylynn Madden and Maddy Meyer, all of Concordia. The instructor is Kendra Short.
The team took four group dances and six solos to IDC. They received one High Gold award for their jazz dance and three Gold awards for their lyrical, contemporary and supplementary jazz routines. Brown received two High Golds for her solos. Brunner, Craig, Madden, and Meyer received Golds for their solos.
The Kansas State University College of Engineering will honor 11 alumni for professional career accomplishment during the first 20 years following their graduation. The honorees will be recognized at ceremonies on the Manhattan campus April 1.
Recipients of the college’s Professional Progress Award were nominated by their respective department heads and confirmed by Darren Dawson, dean of engineering.
