County teams place high at Math Relays

Pike Valley was the second place 1A school out of 23 teams, and the fourth highest scoring school out of 57 schools 1A through 6A at the Fort Hays Math Relays November 9. Anniversary

Vizner 50th

Ray and Becky (Crossno) Vizner, Belleville, will celebrate their 50th anniversary November 19.

The Vizners were married November 19, 1967 at Grace Methodist Church in Wichita.

Ray farmed and worked at Farmway Coop until his retirement. Becky works at Casey’s.

Taking PRIDE in communities

John Forshee, Director of the River Valley Extension District was awarded the Kansas PRIDE Partner Award at the recent K-State Research & Extension Annual Conference held in Manhattan for his work in Community Vitality and support of PRIDE Communities in the River Valley District.

Community members in Belleville contacted Forshee and the Kansas PRIDE Program about planting trees for the upcoming 150th Anniversary of the town and the 100th Anniversary of the NCK Free Fair.

Restocking the Food Bank

Anniversary

Doctor 50th

Robert and Marvel Doctor will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary October 28. They were married at the Cuba Presbyterian Church. The day will be celebrated with their two daughters, Deborah Lee, her husband, Patrick of Wamego, and Carrie Doctor-Hartman, husband Chris, of Olathe, grandchildren Olivia and Aidan Lee. 5,6

Cole is new Boy Scout leader

Matt Cole, a former scout in Troop 56 and a 1999 graduate of Belleville High School, has accepted the position of Scout Master for Troop 56.

Cole is an honorably discharged veteran of the US Marine Corps, and is currently active in the Kansas Army National Guard. He is employed by the Belleville Police Department.

Graves to enter Marines upon graduation in May

On September 11, Sabin Graves, senior at Republic County High School, enlisted in the Marines.

Graves said he has dreamed about being in the Marines for as long as he can remember. Amy and Travis Graves, Sabin’s parents, are supportive of his decision.
