Simms married 50 years

Douglas and Paula  Simms will celebrate  50 years of marriage on  July 15.

 Lt. Douglas Simms  and the former Paula  Tibbetts were married  July 15, 1967, at the  Presbyterian Church  in Belleville, while he  was on leave from the  United States Army.  He had just graduated  from Artillery Officers  Candidate School and  commissioned a 2nd  Lieutenant at Fort Sill,  Okla.  

Upon discharge from  the Army the couple  moved to Topeka  while he attended law  school at Washburn  University. She worked  for the Kansas Funeral  Directors Association.  Following graduation  from law school the  couple moved to  Belleville where he went  into law practice with  Fred Swoyer.
