Munden mayor restates plea for annual tax sale

By Deb Hadachek

When Munden people swear, they may use the words “tax sale”.

“The words ‘tax sale’ are unhappy over there,” said Munden mayor Jimmie Blecha in making his oft-repeated plea to Republic County Commissioners to schedule a sale to get delinquent properties back on the tax rolls.

“We have people waiting to buy these properties right now,” Blecha scolded commissioners. “It sets a bad precendent. If there were a tax sale every year, there would only be a half dozen or so.”

Blecha said the city of Munden mows unkempt properties so that they will be “good, saleable properties.” “The taxpayers of Munden are keeping them clean so they will get to sale.”
