State track competitors bring home the hardware from Wichita

Two athletes proved themselves to be 'the best of the best' last weekend by bringing home gold medals at the Kansas Track and Field championships at Wichita State University. Lane Peters of Pike Valley High School claimed first place in two events, while Madison Scott brought home a title for Republic County High School.

Peters, a junior at Pike Valley, placed first in both the 100 and 200 Meter Dash events. He broke the tape, and set a new state record, in the 100, finishing in a time of 10.77. Though not a state record, the Panther thinclad did break the school record in the 200 crossing the line at 22.21.
