The Republic County High School gold team kicked off their 2017 campaign in gold medal form last week finishing in a first place tie at the Washington County Invitational. The Buffs carded a two round total of 361 in four-man play, tied with Nemaha Valley.

Third place went to Vermillion with 366, followed by Riley County at 422, Valley Heights with 432, Linn at 455, Onaga with 485 and the host school, Washington, 535. Justin Tietjen was gold medalist among all golfers carding a 41-38, 79. Trey Kuhlman also medaled for the Buff scoring a 42-47, 89 for seventh place.
